The Callisia repens variegata, also known as the Sweet Bubbles, is a low creeping succulent. This plant features beautiful patches of cute baby-pink leaves, making it quite a dreamy looking plant. These gorgeous colours develop amongst the green or creamy-yellow foliage and is complemented by the purple underside of its leaves. Variegation is where a leaf has white or cream colouring due to the lack of chlorophyll being present, or baby pink and cream leaves as is the case with the Sweet Bubbles. With the absence of chlorophyll, those leaves are unable to photosynthesise and help to feed the plant. Allow your plant to keep a perfect balance of green leaves to enable it to feed itself, and yet make sure the green leaves don’t dominate and overtake the whole plant. Without intervention, you will see your plant revert to its natural form of Green Callisia Repens.

Your traditional, pure green, Callisia Bubbles grows to have quite a rounded form and would generally be trimmed regularly to maintain their shape. The Sweet Bubbles will naturally want to grow similarly. However, due to the increased rate of growth of the green leaves, they will become more prominent, this will be quite noticeable due to the slower growth of pink or creamy-yellow leaves. A higher level of pruning will be needed to help your plant achieve that enchanting bubble shape. If left untrimmed, your Sweet Bubbles will become leggy and misshapen, or as mentioned a reverted Callisia repens.
